How do you replace the rubber grommet behind the…?
The height of the screw is almost exactly the same as the cheap OEM plug nissan used and will never dryrot and fall out. I hope this helps some of you guys. I bought new ones from a Nissan dealer’s parts store online.
Can a Nissan plug be replaced with a push pin?
So I removed the push pin intending to replace it with the Nissan part, but it had no wear after three years of driving. I put it back in and did not use the Nissan plug I bought. Bottom line is the plastic push pin works fine and will last as long as the Nissan plug. It’s very easy to install and they’re cheap.
Why does Nissan use plastic grommet on switches?
The only reason Nissan opted to use the plastic piece instead of direct metal contact was to save the switch from an early demise since it wouldn’t be slamming into the metal arm all the time.

What kind of rubber is used in Nissan?
Some of the rubber products in this section, that are no longer available from Nissan, are re-manufactured aftermarket U.S made rubber. Our U.S.rubber manufacturer has designed and tooled many long lasting automotive products for the industry.
