Seven Sacred Pools Trail (‘Ohe’o Gulch) is a 0.6 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Hana, Maui, Hawaii that features a waterfall and is good for all skill levels. The trail is primarily used for hiking, walking, nature trips, and bird watching and is accessible year-round.

Why are the Seven Sacred Pools closed?

Please Note: Oheo Pools aka Seven Sacred Pools are currently closed due to Covid-19. These “Seven Sacred Pools” along the Oheo gulch, a large ravine with jungle foliage, actually consist of about 20 swimmable pools formed along the Palikea stream.

Is it safe to swim in the Seven Sacred Pools?

Note that swimming is strictly prohibited at the Seven Pools, but not along the Pipiwai Trail. Be on the lookout for wet rocks!

Can you swim in the pools of OHEO Maui?

Do I need a reservation for the Road to Hana?

Reservations are now required for visiting the Black Sand Beach, along the the Road to Hana. You’ll need to book in advance as same day reservations are not available.

Located above the Oheo Gulch (Seven Sacred Pools), Pipiwai Trail is 4 miles roundtrip and gains 650 ft. of elevation. It takes anywhere from 2 1/2 – 5 hours to hike; depending how much nature loving you do.

Is the Pipiwai trail open?

The Kīpahulu District is open 9 am-5 pm daily.

Is the Road to Hana paved?
