When does your car feel like it is floating?
When I’m on the highway sometimes my car will feel like it is floating and move sideways just a bit when I cross a seam in the pavement, this doesn’t happen at very low speeds but can happen anywhere between 30 and 75 mph, it feels just like taking a curve at high speeds except I’m going straight and the wheel doesn’t move.
Why do my tires feel like they are sliding?
Loose lug nuts and/or improper inflation pressures can lead to strange and dangerous handling conditions. I am going to begin with the assumption that you did not check the tightness of the lug nuts, and that you did not verify that the tires were inflated properly.
What happens when your tires are too low?
This will also make your drive rather rough, as you’ll feel every bump and crack in the road. If they are too low on the other hand, your ride will have more of a sway to it since the tire will bounce much more. Check your tires regularly and Schedule an Appointmentwith AAMCO Colorado to see if the tire pressure is even on each one.
Why does my steering wheel vibrate when I shake the car?
Certain alignment issues in the back end can cause the steering wheel to vibrate as it shakes the car from side to side, for instance. Many people complain about experiencing vibration at certain speeds. This usually means that either a wheel is bent or a tire is out of round.
Why do my tires sound like they are roaring?
The most common reasons are lack of tire rotation and/ or worn or loose suspension parts and mis-alignment.
Why does my car feel like it’s floating?
When holding the steering wheel in position it feels like car just takes off on it’s own to the left or right and doesn’t seem to correspond to the steering wheel moving. It’s significantly worse on a rougher road. I’ve looked around these forums and don’t see much but I feel like it can’t be too many things.
Why are my tires wearing out so fast?
Worn front end, worn suspension parts or your vehicle being out of alignment can also cause pre-mature and irregular tire wear. If you have weak shocks or struts, they will cause other front end and/ or suspension parts to wear out prematurely, and cause your tires to wear faster than they should.

Why does my steering feel like it’s floating?
To say it checked out is not enough for these cars, especially since they have a Rear Cradle Assembly, and an “In The Green” alignment may not/doesn’t work either. Who balanced your tires?? If it was done on a Hunter (you mentioned Road Force), did the tech turn “Smart Balance Mode” OFF??
Why does my steering feel loose at high speeds?
The alignment sheet checked out good and the road force balance was done properly. I am noticing at high speeds or when doing 40-50 rolls the steering feels quite loose or as if the front end is floating. I’ve also noticed the car will drift to the right when the steering wheel is pointed straight.
Why does my car feel like its on ice all the time?
Its getting pretty scary to drive! the steering also feels alot lighter than usual… the tyres all have good tread on them, the rear shocks are not leaking either. had the alignment done and at the same time all the track rod ends etc got checked and according to garage its all fine, checked myself and it all seems fine no real play in the wheels.
(also I just replaced the tirod end, and control arm on the drivers side) It just feels scary not knowing where the car is going to go, my steering wheel is all over the place at low speeds with a DUSTING of snow. And at high speeds it feels like the back end is going to give out. It just floats on the road.
Why does my steering wheel float all over the road?
But walking all over the road, or “floating” is a dead giveaway that the rack and pinion is bad. Your rack and pinion is what connects your steering wheel to your wheels. Your tierods go into your rack and pinion. Your steering gear box, is also, most of the time, part of your rack and pinion.
What to do when your car feels like it’s turning?
Get somebody to turn the steering wheel back and forth while you watch the components, car off. There should be just a little play in the wheel, if the steering wheel turns more than, say, 1/8 of a turn and the wheels don’t try to turn accordingly, see if you can see what is moving.
Why does my car feel like it’s wandering?
Worn tie-rod ends will give sloppy steering feel and excess play, but will rarely cause a wander. There are other possible culprits, not all are in the front of the car. You can get a complete suspension inspection done for about an hours labor.
