I also have owned the same model manual sedan since new (June 95). 402,000 km and no problems. It is just starting to use a little oil due to failing valve stem seals. It will cost more than car is worth to overhaul the heads, so I just keep on going. Sad day when Mitsubishi stopped making them.

When did the timing belt change on the TJ Magna?
As far as I know the TJ Magna was released in 2000, the timing belt is due to be changed at 5 years or at around the 90k service, whichever comes first. I’m interested to know if the timing belt changed as per the service records? I would check service history, from what I have heard it is critical to change at the 100,000.

have the same problem? Starter motor easy to change in the magna, disconnect the battery first, then undo the connections on the starter motor, 14mm socket to losing up the 2 bolts and its out. Then just a case of fitting the new one in its place and connect everything back up they way it was. Please let us know happens so it will help others.
