What to do if your proportioning valve goes out?
If the brake pedal does not move downward, have your assistant stomp on the brake pedal with medium to hard pressure, and hold it down firmly. If you hear a click from the valve, and your assistant tells you the dash light has gone out, stop and close the valve. The interior spool device inside the proportioning valve has moved and centered.
What to do if your brake proportioning valve is stuck?
Depress the brake pedal and note if you have a brake light on the dashboard. If your brake system has not been previously worked on or suffered no brake leaks from the wheel cylinders, calipers or master cylinder, chances are the brake proportioning valve is stuck in one position, tripping the brake dash light.
Where are the proportioning valves located in a car?
Vehicles with front disc and rear drum brakes have proportioning valves located on the brake line between the front and rear brakes. A metering system within the valve, comprised of a small and large valve and a spring, govern the pressure between the front and rear brakes during sudden and emergency brake application.
What makes a throttling valve a fluid control device?
THROTTLING VALVES Valves that are utilized as fluid control devices are typically “throttling valves”. Such valves experience internal velocity and internal pressure gradients (both positive and negative) that conclude with a permanent pressure loss (∆P) from the inlet pipe-to-outlet pipe connections.

Is the proportioning valve in DOT 3 good?
The proportioning or combination valve is original and was thought to be in good condition so it was just cleaned/painted. I’m using Dot 3 brake fluid. I did not bench bleed the master cylinder though I think I going to take it back off and bench bleed it.
