What to do if your 4 wheel drive is not working?
HI, Good Ole Ford 4wd issue, been their many times. Lets start with the basics. 1. In the junction box fuse/relay panel which is under the left side of the dash their is a fuse, fuse number 23 10 amp check that fuse to make sure its good. If the fuse is good you will need to test for voltage at the 4×4 solenoids.
Is there a 4×4 fuse in the dash?
yes it could be,the 4×4 fuse is usualy in fuse box under dash, some are under the hood fuse box it will say 4×4 on fuse pannell, also you may want to have the hub assem on front to be checked to see if splines are striped,if just not enguadeing, fuse or the motor mentioned in other post.ford is bad for this motor going bad.
Why is my 4 wheel drive light not engaging?
If you don’t shift it into neutral, the 4wd light will continue to flash and won’t get into gear. Seems to be a common occurrence on these trucks. Dodge dealers recommend engaging 4-lo, then back in 2-wheel drive, then back in 4-wheel drive hi (4H). This sequence apparently resolves the problem.
Why is my Ford F150 not 4 wheel drive?
If the wheel rotates with the driveshaft and the truck is in 4H you have a problem with the IWE on that wheel. If you are experiencing a problem with a grinding noise coming from the front of your vehicle while accelerating then this section is for you.

What happens when you put the T-case in 4WD?
The only thing throwing me off is the GEM is responding to you putting the t-case in 4wd low, ie by grounding the 4wd low light circuit turning the light on. The 4WD indicator switch (on left side of transmission) is in charge of telling the GEM what range of 4wd you want.
