What should the ICP pressure be?
ICP typically reaches anywhere between 800 and 2,000 psi while cranking. If ICP sensor reading is low, erratic, rises slowly while cranking, or there is another reason to suspect it is bad unplug the sensor and attempt to start the engine (ICP defaults to 750 psi when sensor is unplugged).
How do you know if your ICP is bad?
Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Injector Control Pressure Sensor
- Starting issues. One of the first symptoms of a possible issue with the injector control pressure sensor is issues starting the engine.
- Engine misfires and decrease in power, acceleration, and fuel economy.
- Check Engine Light comes on.
What is the ICP on a 6.0 Powerstroke?
The 6.0 Powerstroke ICP Sensor (Injection Control Pressure Sensor) is one of the most critical sensors on the engine. Failure of the ICP sensor can cause a very wide range of driveability symptoms. If there is oil in the ICP sensor connector, it needs to be replaced.
What should my IPR read?
Normal is between about 480-620 with a 5-7% IPR duty cycle. Your ICP sensor could be biased slightly.
What does IPR valve do?
The IPR valve is a very critical component responsible for controlng the oil pressure to the injectors in the HEUI fuel system.
What to do if your ICP pressure is low?
As stated, unplug the icp and try to start the engine. if it starts, replace the icp sensor. you need a scan tool you can watch the IPR duty cycle and the ICP pressure If you have a 78% duty cycle and only 300 psi ICP then you know the pcm is asking for it but not getting it so either there is a leek or the IPR is stuck in the open posistion.
Why does my MaxxForce diesel have low ICP?
The HPOP (high pressure oil pump) supplies the high pressure engine oil to the hydraulic operated injectors so if pressure drops the injection system will fail or run poorly. Our shop has had some experience with low ICP which can be mechanical due to a faulty o-ring on an injector or high pressure manifold.
What is the ICP pressure on a 03 6.0?
Guys i really need some help here I have a 03 6.0 that will not crank I hooked my genisis scanner to it and was checking the icp pressure and it was only 350 to 400. I was told that was not enough to crank.
What happens when ICP sensor code is incorrect?
An ICP pressure sensor code will fool the engine computer with an incorrect reading which will derate the engine. Working with high pressures causes problems and seeks out all of the weak spots.
