What should idle speed be on Honda XR600R?
Honda specifies an idle speed of 1300rpm (plus or minus 100rpm) but that’s probably a little on the high side. It’s all a bit academic unless you’re using a tacho, but adjusting by ear generally works out fine (too high or too low should be obvious, you’re aiming for a consistently smooth idle where you can still tell it’s a big thumper).

How long does a warm engine idle for?
With a steady throttle, it fluctuated between 3 and 3.5 for a couple mins, then bogged out and stalled. Next time I started it, it went to 2k intially then started hunting between 1k and 1500, with about a two sec interval. After a couple mins, fluctuated around 750, but not steady.

Which is better Honda 83 XL or Honda XR650L?
What the 83 XL does have going for it is gobs of torque and power and a weight of 315 WET. My concern is that the XR650L will feel a bit lacking and a bit heavier. If I understand correctly the XR650L makes less power and weighs 35lbs more.
