What kind of oil does a 2002 Polaris Sportsman 500 use?

Is there a problem with my Polaris Bendix?
I have an 01 sportsman 400 that the starter spins and engages for a couple revolutions then kicks out before the motor starts or doesnt engage at all. I searched a bunch of forums and they all say to replace the bendix.
Are there any issues with the Bendix Springs?
Other issues with a bendix are very obvious to the eye, not so much with that small spring……good luck Amazon has those bendix for $26.75, just make sure you soak the bendix in MotorKote, Castrol syntec for a day or 2 then drain very good and install. The thrust washer goes on the motor side or starter gear side of the Bdix

What goes in them is usually the very fine small spring that holds the friction weights together. It only takes a small amount of corrosion or debris to make it malfunction. Other issues with a bendix are very obvious to the eye, not so much with that small spring……good luck
