What kind of noise does a road King make?
Nearing the end of the ride I started hearing primary noise rattling from my 2010 HD Road King. The next day after arriving home I drained the fluid and found not only the metal paste on the magnetic drain plug but several metal shards about 1/2 to 3/4 inch long.
Are there any problems with my Road King?
A new starter clutch & clutch assembly, primary seals, bearings and gaskets were installed last year and I’ve ridden about 12,000 miles on that. No other problems or noises and I’ve always run Amsoil 20W/50. I have 60,000 mile on her. What are some likely things to look for? Dan S

What kind of engine does a Harley Davidson Road King have?
My ’14 Road King has a stage one with S.E. race tuner. It now has 47k on it’s odometer, averages about 42mpg.,runs very strong (slightly faster than a stock M8).I run Redline synthetic & have had no issues or odd noises whatsoever. I love this bike.

Why does my Road Glide make a ticking noise?
My new Road Glide has quite a bit of valve train noise in the 2000-2600 range.It seems to come and go at will with no change in oil pressure also. I am running Amsoil 20-50 and have considered trying Redline 20w-60 during warm weather. I attribute some of it to the fact that the fairing reflects a lot of this back to the rider.

Why does my Harley Davidson make a rattling noise when I brake?
Accelerate from a stop in first gear rather hard to about 30 MPH and then brake rather hard using only the rear brake without locking up the wheel and don’t pull in the clutch until the bike slows enough. Do this 2-3 times in succession and you’ll notice that the noise that you thought was the valve train is almost completely gone now.

Why does my primary case on my Harley make a rattling noise?
The other day I returned it to the dealer for a rattling/banging noise in the primary case. The dealer confirmed the noise and said that it is probably the compensator nut. They took the bike in, disassembled the primary and did not find anything wrong.
Why is my primary chain making a rattling noise?
By doing this, the automatic primary chain will ratchet up a bit tighter if it was loose before this. The acceleration and braking causes slack in the lower strand of the chain and will ratchet it up tighter if it needed an adjustment. If it wasn’t loose there will be no noted difference.
