BUT you should still be able to get inside to the lock mechanism to unlock the door after the top, side and middle plugs are unfastened, just don’t bend the panel back too far because of the bottom plugs.

ML430, the rear hatch was rarely used and the handle on the outside was sticky, at some point someone had tried to open it and it stuck in the partly open position instead of returning to the ‘normal’ position after use.
