If so look into a vacuume leak or possibly bad igntion components. If your not using delco plugs in this motor that can be a big contributor to your problem. GM vortec engines hate anything but vortec plugs and will do all kinds of weird things. And yes a clogged converter could cause this sort of thing to happen.
