What happens to the timing on a CDI?
This is exactly what happens in cdi’s that have a curve. They start out with more advanced timing at lower rpms (to shift the powerband of the pipe to lower rpms), and then retard the timing at higher rpms (to shift the powerband of the pipe to higher rpms). Some cdi’s dont have a curve though, and you have to compromise.
Are there any problems with the Mercedes transmission?
Including Engine, Transmission, ABS, Airbag, SRS, SBC Brakes, ESP, EPS, Air Suspension and more. In depth troubleshooting, but only works on MB cars. 2. Launch Creader X431 VII works in European, Asian and Domestic Cars.
How does a CDI work on a moped?
The stator has two main ignition components; a coil, and a hall sensor/pickup. When the flywheel spins next to the coil, the magnetic fields from the magnets produce electrical current that flows through wires wrapped around the coil. A wire attached to the stator carries this current to the CDI box which has a capacitor.
Why does my Mercedes CDI have no acceleration?
You may also have a plumbing leak with the turbocharged air (compressor side) or turbine side.. Either way you probably need to pay a visit to the stealer (or a certified mechanic) for the diagnostics..
What happens when a CDI box goes bad?
Sometimes, a bad CDI does not cause sparks at all. Again, when a CDI box is about to go bad, it can lead to misfires, issues with starting, rough running or even stall the motor.
How does a capacitive discharge ignition ( CDI ) circuit work?
The basic working of a CDI unit is executed through the following steps: Two voltage inputs are fed to the electronic CDI system, one is high voltage from the alternator in the range of 100 V to 200 V AC, other is a low pulse voltage from a pickup coil in the range of 10 V to 12 V AC.
Can a motor rev freely un-loaded at 3000 rpm?
A motor can rev freely UN-loaded, but as load raises so does the demand for a high intensity spark. DVA test the high speed windings of the stator AND also verify spark using an inductive timing light or an inductive tach while under load at the max RPM the motor will pull.
Why does my CDI on my scooter go bad?
It also directs the spark plugs on how to perform especially when they have to fire. The CDI goes bad because of different reasons. Some of them go bad because they are old, others experience a wiring short while others go bad because of a faulty charging system. How is my CDI? The CDI in your scooter is linked to the ignition.
