We’ve been talking about getting Mopar NV245/247 transfer case fluid for my 2005 grand cherokee. jeffreybehr told me in a post above to check what my owners manual says I should use in my jeep, the book says I need to use Mopar ATF+4 Transmission Fluid in my Transmission and Transfer case.

Mobilfluid 424 is what the Mopar part number is. Chevron THF1000 cross-references with the 424, and of course AMSOIL sells an oil specifically for this T-case. Sorry for lack of references,the baby’s crying.

Do you need ATF + 4 for Jeep NV245?

It does not specifically state ATF+4 for the NV245, it simply says “Transfer Case – ATF+4”, which is for the NV140 only. DO NOT use ATF+4 for the NV-245 t-case!!! The 2005 owners manuals have never been updated since being issued in 2004.

My friend has a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the NV247j transfer case and it takes Synthetic ATF +4. Our transfer case definately doesnt take ATF +4. All new convenient squeeze bottle. 1 Quart (32 Oz.) Bottle Opps hopefully he’s got the right oil in there now ….
