Why does my aux.battery keep going dead?
Sometimes new batteries are bad out of the store because they sit too long and one of the cells go bad so you might have voltage but once you do a load test, it will show that it’s dead. The voltage of the aux. battery was 12.4 when I installed it. I do have a code scanner, no stored codes.
Is there a way to change the battery without losing memory?
Another way of changing your battery w/o loosing memory is leave the car running and swap the battery. I’ve done this many times. Just don’t let the positive cable ground out. You don’t have to worry about vital memory loss.. Only radio settings. Thank you for the information.
How does the memory effect affect a battery?
Memory effect. It describes the situation in which nickel-cadmium batteries gradually lose their maximum energy capacity if they are repeatedly recharged after being only partially discharged. The battery appears to “remember” the smaller capacity.

Can a 20 ampere hour cell cause memory effect?
In a follow-up program, 20-ampere-hour aerospace-type cells were used on a similar test régime; memory effects were observed after a few hundred cycles. Phenomena which are not true memory effects may also occur in battery types other than sintered-plate nickel-cadmium cells.
