What can a field of Japan VTEC controller do?
Join Discussion…… Field of Japan has put together a nice little VTEC controller which does everything a VTEC controller should do, plus it adds the powerful capability of allowing the tuner to adjust fuel delivery up to ±30%, in 1% increments. The fuel numbers can be set at eight points on the rpm band (1000, 2000, up to 8000rpms).
How does the Honda SFC-VTEC system work?
Typical speed density systems (Honda uses a speed density system) ignore MAP at WOT and read the fuel straight from the fuel maps in the ROM (open loop). BUT, I have been informed by a few people that the Honda system deviates from the “norm” and continues to use MAP even at WOT, so the SFC-VTEC would presumably continue to alter the curves.
What is the resolution of the field SFC VTEC controller?
So many questions, so few answers… 8-Step Simple Fuel Controller allows ±30% adjustment of fuel delivery (with 1% resolution) at 1000 rpm increments from 1000-8000 rpms. (4.14.98) – The above Excel charts plot the gains/losses of the Field SFC VTEC unit.
Where are the DIP switches on the field SFC-VTEC?
Using the diagram above, set the dip switches on the back of the Field SFC-VTEC accordingly. They should be up-down-up-down-Clip the SFC-VTEC to it’s wiring harness and take the car for a test spin to make sure it works.
When did Honda start using the VTEC system?
Since its introduction in the late 1980s, VTEC has been used in many of Honda’s best performance cars including the NSX, Integra Type R, S2000, and Civic Type R. But the way VTEC goes about…

How to determine the best VTEC point for a Hondata?
VTEC Point The determine the best VTEC point perform two dyno runs, one with VTEC set low (e.g. 3000 rpm) and the other run with VTEC set high (e.g. 6500 rpm). Set the VTEC point to the intersection of the high speed cam and the low speed cam.
