Is there a purge valve on the EGR solenoid?
The vent port of the EGR Solenoid is the short and smooth terminal. Do not attach any vacuum or pressure line to that port. Keep it open. The EVAP Canister (Vapor Canister) in this diagram has the purge valve attached (left side, two lines attached) to the canister.
Where do I get the vacuum hose routing diagram?
I got the Vacuum Hose Routing Diagram from this forum (included below), but it would seem that the terminology used differs slightly from the descriptions used by parts suppliers when I search on the part numbers. Therefore can someone please confirm whether or not I have correctly identified the valves from the part numbers on my car?
Where does the vacuum hose come from on a VW?
On closer inspection, it originates from a T-Piece in the N75 to VNT Actuator Line. The connector looks like it’s designed to also serve as a one-way valve (to close the open line), however when testing the line between the N75 and VNT Actuator it will not hold a vacuum; it’s leaking from this connector.
Can a vacuum controlled EGR valve be used?
Here, we’ll deal with vacuum controlled EGR valves found in old model vehicles and some newer models using hybrid (vacuum-electronic) controls.
What is the vacuum line routing for a Jeep engine?
Newer vehicles (starting first in California, and later in all states) instead vent these vapors into — you guessed it — the intake air flow via a charcoal canister. The above image is the vacuum diagram for both the 1977 I6 engine. This system first arrived in California FSJ and all CJ models, and was later added to 49-state FSJ’s.
What should the EGR valve look like at idle speed?
So, most older (EGR) systems use a vacuum regulated valve. On the other hand, newer vehicles tend to have an electronic valve, to control exhaust gas recirculation. So, at idle speed the valve, should look closed.
How to test an EGR valve with a hand mirror?
As you do this, watch the valve diaphragm movement. Use a small hand mirror for this, if necessary. If the stem or diaphragm doesn’t move, disconnect the thin vacuum hose from the top of the valve. Place your finger on the opening of the vacuum hose you just disconnected. Increase engine rpm again as you did in the previous step.
