Is there a problem with my Saab 9-3 Areo convertible?
I have been the proud owner of a Saab 9-3 Areo Convertible 2002 (52 plate) model (without folding rear seats or ski hatch) for the last 3 years. Recently a problem has occured with the roof mechanism and before I submit myself to the mercy of the nearest Saab dealer, I am seeking some advice.

I can turn off the engine and then manually lift the lid, then restart the engine and whilst my wife holds the lid up vertically, select the switch to lower and the roof then continues as normal – with the exception that the lid falls slightly faster than it would normally at the end. The lid locks correctly at the end of the sequence.

2001 9-3 Convertible soft top problems. On opening the hood, when the hood is nearly vertical prior to it folding backwards it stops. The pump can no longer be heard running. By releasing the switch and re-pressing it together with pushing the hood to the rear it continues its operation correctly.
