Is the GMC Suburban 4WD transfer case working?
Oh BTW I have a 99 GMC suburban with the auto 4wd transfer case. Last winter when I would put it in 4wd it was making a bad noise (almost like a wheel bearing roaring) but the 4wd was working then.

The solid lights on the 4WD buttons are telling you where the transfer case encoder motor thinks it is, and blinks on the mode that it is trying to go to after you push the button. If it fails to move to the new position, it goes back to a solid light on the original position and illuminates the “SERVICE 4WD” light.

Thanks. I own a 2003 Chevy suburban and have the same problem with the 4wd and I found out that in times you need to get it working you can pull the fuse (“TREC” all wheel drive module) from under the hood and wait 15 seconds and install it again. This is the fuse for the all wheel drive module.
