What is Tengwar Elvish?
The Tengwar, or Fëanorian Characters, was a script invented by the Elf Fëanor in the First Age, used to write originally a number of the languages of Middle-earth, including Quenya and Sindarin. The word Tengwar is Quenya for “letters”; the corresponding singular is tengwarr, “letter”.

Is Legolas a Sindarin?

Does Legolas speak Quenya or Sindarin?

How do you read Sindarin?
Every other word is pronounced with the emphasis on the first syllable.
- For example, “Sindarin” is pronounced “SEEN-dar-in,” not “sin-DAR-in.” If there were a fourth syllable on the end of the word, it might become “sin-dar-IN-oh.”
- In Quenya, “Sindarin” would be pronounced “seen-dair-IN.”
Is Legolas pure elf?
Legolas is a half-Silvan elf; Thranduil must have married someone of that race and Legolas belongs to the Sindarin and Silvan people. Legolas is speaking in general terms, since his Sindarin family are the leaders among the Silvan people of Mirkwood.
Does Legolas know Quenya?
Legolas is able to speak a couple languages. Obviously he can speak Westron, which is the common tongue that most men and hobbits of Middle Earth use.
