White Smoke – Could indicate that coolant has penetrated the combustion chamber. If the vehicle runs out of coolant, you run the risk of causing severe damage to the engine requiring extensive repairs and/or replacement. Blue or Grey Smoke – Is indicative of burning engine oil.

Why does my Nissan Sentra make a glugging noise when idling?
Same issues as above, 80k miles. Got codes for multiple misfires, car is jerking at high speeds and makes a glugging noise while idling. We thought that this was caused by the engine running lean (some cat converter codes noted above). replaced the o2 sensors, but the issue persisted. One day the car doesn’t start.

What kind of engine does a Nissan Sentra have?
The issue with the precat affects 2005 Nissan Sentra’s and Altima’s with the 2.5 engine. If your Sentra is an SER or Spec V, you have that engine. If its a GLE or GLX or similar model, you don’t have that problem.
