Is it bad to take your car out of gear without the clutch?
There is really not much harm done pulling it into neutral without the clutch. Shifting without the clutch in a modern manual (synchronized) is not recommended unless it is an emergency (losing clutch hydraulics, etc). That will damage the transmission eventually unless you rev match each shift properly.

Why do I need to replace the clutch on my car?
We’re here to look at the signs it is worn out and needs replacing. To put it very simply, the purpose of the clutch is to disconnect the wheels from the power being supplied by the engine. This allows you to change gears, after which the clutch reconnects the engine power to the wheels to keep the car moving.

This can be one the earliest symptoms to appear, and also one of the easiest to spot. Keep an eye out for this one then. Where’s Reverse?
Why is the soft clutch pedal not working?
The inoperative clutch and soft clutch pedal could be, a faulty clutch master cylinder and/or a faulty clutch slave cylinder. Proper diagnoses should be performed to avoid unnecessary repairs. The brake fluid leak at the left rear wheel is a separate issue. The clutch hydraulic system and brake hydraulic system are two different hydraulic systems.
When to take your clutch in for repair?
When you know it is nearing the end of its lifespan, you can plan for it and put away a little money to soften the blow of the mechanics bill. It’s always much better to take the car in for a scheduled clutch repair rather than waiting for it to fail completely whilst you are out driving.
