What is a student SmartRider?
Our Student SmartRider is your child’s ticket to ride on Transperth services. If your child is a primary or secondary school student, they can use their Student SmartRider, which gives them a 70 cent student fare for any journey, Monday to Friday, throughout the school year.
Do smart riders expire?
If you damage or lose your SmartRider you will need to order a new SmartRider. You will need to go through the same process as when you received your initial SmartRider card. Once the expiry date passes your SmartRider will revert to a standard SmartRider and you will be charged standard fares.
What is a secondary student card?
Proof of Age card These are used as proof of eligibility for concession/child fares when a student under 16 years of age looks older. This concession card applies to full time NSW/ACT secondary school students who are aged 16 years and older. It is also valid for mature secondary students aged 19 years and older.
Is university a student concession?
Under the NSW Transport Guidelines, a student studying full-time at a NSW university is eligible for discounted rates on transport. However, the student must reside in NSW to receive the benefits. However, despite the law seeming unfair, this doesn’t apply to just NSW.
Can I use my SmartRider on my phone?
The free Transperth app is available to download on iOS and Android devices. By logging in to My Account, you can register and manage your SmartRider and Autoload, My Alerts email and app notifications, SmartParker and access to bike shelters.

How does the Transperth bus fare system work?
How Transperth fares work. Our fare system uses a combination of zones and time limits. Usually, one fare lets you travel anywhere within a certain distance of your starting point until the time limit expires, on any combination of bus, train or ferry services.
