How many bolts does a Polaris 01 use?
I should have read between the lines. @ronc80 – I just checked and both the 01 and 13 use the same 4 bolts to tighten the head and cylinder to the engine block – there are two 6 mm bolts to assure sealing the cam chain well at both the junction of the cylinder to the engine case and the head to the cylinder.

This is for a 2001 500 so not sure it will help. The op said cylinder jug so I went with what I had for that not the head bolts. You shouldn’t have to torque the 4 cylinder bolts like the head because that’s just a regular gasket and no compression.

1996 Polaris 300 Express rebuilding the top end and need the torque for the head bolts. 2X4 2 stroke. I looked in my manual and dont see it. If you need any numbers off the ATV LMK and will post them.

step 1 in a criss cross pattern torque them all to 22 ftlbs, then let sit one minute. step 2 then loosen each one up 360 degrees off a 1/4 turn at a time. step 3 then torque to 29 ftlbs. step4 then tighten each one 1/4 turn make sure to adjust your torque wrench to a higher setting while doing this.

Can you remove the head bolts on a Polaris?
Ok, so your motor SHOULD (key word) be at TDC. Now you can remove the head bolts. they are 8mm bolts. Remove them in a criss cross pattern and set them aside. Now the top of you head should lift off. There is a gasket around it. Remove that as well, but be careful not to “yank” to hard on it and tear it.
