How does an A C relay work?
The air conditioner (A/C) relay, is a relay used to send electrical power to the air conditioning compressor, and air conditioning compressor clutch when the system is turned on. It operates just like any other relay, and is often controlled by a button labeled ‘A/C’.
Why does my Hagerty relay not show continuity?
If the relay does click and 30 and 87 do show continuity, there is still the possibility that the internal contacts are corroded and a voltage drop across them is preventing full current from flowing. Take that thought and park it for a moment. If the relay itself tested as good, then the relay wiring must be tested next.

How can I bypass the hot side relay?
To bypass the relay, plug the A/C back in. Return to the relay. Make a small 6-inch jumper wire and strip both ends. With the wiring plug still plugged in, touch the jumper wire to the hot side relay lug, from the controls as already identified and from the relay lug that feeds the A/C compressor.
