Loosen the camshaft position (CMP) sensor housing bolt (2). Rotate the CMP sensor housing (1) clockwise in order to advance the timing. Rotate the CMP sensor housing (1) counterclockwise in order to retard the ignition timing.
Will a new timing chain improve performance?

Click to expand… No… the 1.8 and the 2.0 are dual over head cam engines with timing chains and tensioners where as the 1.6 engines are single over head cam with a timing belt and pulley tensioner… I think they recommend a tensioner/timing chain service at 100km just to be safe. Lee Engine sells a Japanese kit. Just replace it to be safe.
When to change the timing belt on a car?
If it’s got a chain, leave it alone. A chain can lasts a really long time. When they finally do wear out, they’ll make some noise and rattle but when you hear the noise and rattling, then it is time to change it. If it’s got a belt, you’ll definitely want to replace the timing belt now before it breaks with that kind of mileage.
What kind of oil does Suzuki tracker 2.0 use?
Suzuki also recomments 5w30 oil to prevent tensioner wear at startup. the 1.8, 2.0 and 2.3 are interference engines. Change the timing components because if they break, you WILL be removing the head and replacing bent valves and possibly bust a piston. Its fairly cheap insurance. I’ve seen it first hand.
