  1. Press the button located directly under the emblem of the trunk, in the center. The Trunk will OPEN.
  2. To CLOSE it, press the image of the opened trunk located on the inside of the trunk door at the bottom.

That should be “press and hold” – and it is the button on the outside of the rear gate. Holding it pressed down for more than 5 seconds (maybe 7? a good count of 10). thx all. Will try that next time, as I think I have a recurring problem here. Gonna be a once a month deal.

Why is my rear lift gate not opening?

Not opening whole way, etc. About a month ago it went into a mode where any “open liftgate” button resulted in 3 beeps, no opening. I could open it manually by crawling in the rear from a door, removing the trim piece and throwing the lever with a screwdriver, but it didn’t fix the problem.
