Why does my Outback hatch not open all the way?

Not sure if it is the same issue, but when my 17′ Outback had a problem with the hatch opening partially, I called the dealer and they said I probably pushed the lower hatch button on the driver side panel and it set to a partial open. I didn’t know there were two different hatch buttons or that if that feature even existed.
