How do you become a Cubmaster?
Get trained: Training as a Cubmaster begins with what the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) calls Fast Start Training. This training can be obtained online from BSA or you can complete it at your local Roundtable events. After Fast Start, you will want to attend New Leader Training and Leader Specific Training.
How do you become an ASM Scout?
Complete Youth Protection Training, a required course for all registered adult Boy Scouts volunteers. The course is available online and is regularly offered as in-person training at locations in the area. The online course takes about 30 minutes to complete and must be taken every two years.
What does an assistant cubmaster do?
Responsibilities: An assistant Cubmaster’s responsibilities (as designated by the Cubmaster) are to: Help the Cubmaster as needed. Be ready to fill in for the Cubmaster, if necessary. Complete Cubmaster Fast Start training and position-specific Basic Leader Training.
Can a Cubmaster also be a den leader?
A den leader may not simultaneously serve as the Cubmaster. A crew advisor or Varsity coach may not additionally serve as the committee chair, within the same unit.
Do Scout leaders get paid?
No!! The Scout Group, like all others, is run entirely by a team of volunteers. No payment is made to anyone for their time etc.
Who can be an assistant scoutmaster?
An assistant Scoutmaster may be 18 years old, but at least one in each troop should be 21 or older so he or she can serve in the Scoutmaster’s absence.

Can the committee chair be a den leader?
Nope. A person cannot register as den leader and committee member, as BOTH are considered “unit position” and no one may service in two “unit positions” (except a limited exception for the COR who can also be on the committee).
At what age you can be a scout leader?
