Does ABS affect the handbrake?
No, the hand/parking/emergency brake is a separate mechanical system. It is not connected to ABS in any way.

When does the ABS light come on on a Windstar?
The brake light on the dash can illuminate from a low brake fluid concern on the brake master cylinder reservoir or from a E brake switch failure. It can also come on in the event of ABS issues. The ABS light comes on when it sinces a brake issue or wheel speed sensor concern or a ABS HCU or ECU concern (common on the windstar).
