Do children get free healthcare in Florida?
Florida KidCare includes free, subsidized and full-pay options based on family income and household size. Families who do not qualify for free or subsidized coverage may purchase a competitively priced full-pay plan.
Who can get Florida KidCare?
All children above the age of 1 are eligible for Florida KidCare coverage through a subsidized or full-pay program, even if one or both parents are working. Children from birth until their first birthday are eligible for Medicaid if their household income is below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.
How long does it take to get Florida KidCare?

How long does it take to process my application? It can take four to six weeks. Coverage begins only on the first of the month after your child’s eligibility has been determined and the first month’s premium has been paid, if a premium is needed.

Visit the Florida KidCare website to find copay amounts. You can also check your member handbook for copay amounts and a full list of benefits. Your child’s benefits include a wide range of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) drugs. We work with IngenioRx to provide these benefits.

Does my child qualify for Medicaid?
Answer: States have different income eligibility rules, but in most states, children up to age 19 with family income up to $50,000 per year (for a family of four) may qualify for Medicaid or the CHIP. Young people up to 21 may be eligible for Medicaid.
