Can you get rod knock from overheating?
Rather unlikely. An engine can ping (or knock) due to an improper combustion process. Overheating is perhaps one of the most common causes behind head gasket failures. Once your car detects the bad knock sensor, you will see your vehicle losing its power.

Why does my car make a rattling noise when I accelerate?
