Can you drive from Cairns to Daintree?

Starting out from Cairns, drive north on the Captain Cook Highway. At times the road weaves close to the waters of the stunning Coral Sea.
Is Daintree worth visiting?
We did a self-drive tour from where we were staying in Port Douglas. This area is very easy to navigate around, and we had a great day visiting Cape Tribulation, doing some lovely walks, and chilling on the gorgeous beaches.

The weather is pleasantly warm during this time, with reduced humidity and the maximum temperature averaging 26 degrees Celsius.
