Can you drive car without purge valve?

Where is the purge valve on my Escape?

Is the Check Engine code p144a-purge vapor line blocked?
The downside… on the 2.0L, the valve comes as an assembly with a bunch of vapor tubes so it’s a bit of a pain in the butt to change out. Also, that last one I did was not covered under powertrain, just under your basic 3yr/60kms warranty – but it may be different in the States.
