The shock on an FXR or an XL attaches to the swingarm directly above the axle. On a Dyna, it attaches forward of the axle by 6″. The spring rates on an FXR or an XL are much, much less than what a Dyna needs. Trying to run an FXR shock on a Dyna will leave you with a very soft rear suspension.
