Why would my ATV overheat?

Why would my ATV overheat?

A clogged or dirty radiator or radiator screen is likely the number one cause of overheating ATVs. If your ATV has a detachable radiator screen, remove it and clean it using a garden hose or a pressure washer. Do not use a pressure washer if you can’t remove the screen as it may damage the radiator fins.

Is the 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500 losing power?

2 Answers My 1997 Polaris Sportsman 500 has a loss of power when driving. It starts up just fine and runs smooth but there is only about half the power it had the week before. It does not back fire. When climbing a hill or on flat ground it reaches a certain power level and that’s all.

Where is the coil located on a Polaris?

The problem is on the coil. The dual coil is mounted to a panel inside the front left fender well. There is one bolt going through the center of the coil mounting it to the panel, which mounts to the frame. The problem is not the coil, but the bolt that goes through the coil is a working chassis ground, i.e. it is the ground for the coils.

Why is my spark plug not working on my Polaris?

As you get to higher RPM’s, the problem gets worse as the arcing is causing the spark plug to not fire consistently or enough. It can load up the plug and foul it.

I’m trying to fix my brother in law’s quad (Polaris Sportsman 500 H.O.) and can’t seem to figure it out.

Why does my Polaris Sportsman run on EFI?

Machine starts right up, but runs like the choke is left on (but its an EFI) and will continue running only if you are on the throttle. Grrr. AKStew, did you have any Check Engine lights throughout any of this?

Why does my Polaris Sportsman not spit fuel?

Other than rough idling and the idle RPMs seemed low; the machine would go for hours and then all of sudden it would start doing the funky chicken like it was starved for fuel. I would wait about 15-20 minutes, start it right up, and all would be well again for the next day or two.
