(Could be you went through 50 key cycles with no engine issues) When you get off the interstate & the idle is high,,, if you were to power it off and restart the bike, does the idle calm down or does it resume the high idle. Would help to know how high the RPM was, but you have no tach. (?)

Why is the idle speed too high after start up?
The high idle after start up is one of Toyota’s way of reducing emission. A warm engine emits less emission than a cold one so Toyota and other manufacturers put in this feature to help get the engine to operating temperature quicker and thus reducing the higher emission that would have been emitted if the engine was still running cold.

Why is my motorcycle losing power at high speeds?
If you have a fuel injected bike with acceleration problems, your likely culprit is poor timing advance. The faster you go on a motorcycle, the sooner your ignition coil will tell the spark plugs to fire. More firing is performed at higher speeds whereas slower speeds have less firing. The engine timing is the mechanism that controls this.

What to do when your engine is at high revs?
If so, try shifting faster and while the rpms are still in the 2000-2500 range, might make things a little smoother since this is closer to where the engine likes to be. No I don’t wait for the RPM’s to drop when I’m driving it, I just shift so I don’t notice that its at high rev’s till I put it in neutral and coast to a stop or something.
What’s the difference between high revs and low rpm?
As long as it doesn’t increase in rpms while in neutral and it ain’t something that just recently started you’re fine.
