Why is my heat pump stuck in cooling?
The most common cause for a heat pump to remain fixed in cooling mode is a broken reversing valve. This component sits along the refrigerant line and is responsible for changing the direction that refrigerant moves through the pump. Another reason for a heat pump staying in one mode is a thermostat issue.
How much does it cost to replace a reversing valve on a heat pump?
If your heat pump is blowing cool air, you need to get your reversing valve replaced. Expect to pay between $450 and $600 to get a malfunctioning reversing valve replaced.
What to do if your heat pump is not working?
First of all, just check and make sure your unit was not accidentally switched to a/c mode. Next, check your outdoor unit is not iced over (see Heat Pump Troubleshooting Problem #1). If not, your system may have a valve problem, a refrigerant charge issue, or a compressor problem.
What to do if your a / C unit is not working?
• Water is flowing in the proper direction (installation issue). • Pipe is of the proper size (installation issue). WATER STRAINER: Inspect the water strainer and clean if necessary. A strainer partially clogged with debris will restrict water flow to the air handler(s) and will reduce both heating and cooling capacity.
Why is my air conditioner not cooling down my house?
Well, certain problems can prevent an air conditioner from properly cooling down your home including: A dirty air filter. A blocked condenser. A refrigerant leak. An undersized AC. Leaky ducts. An older AC.
Is there a problem with my AC system?
If so, there might not be any “problem” with your AC system. You see, every geographical area has what’s called a 1% summer “design temperature”. Your location will exceed this temperature only 1% of all the hours in a year (based on a 30 year average).
Is the a / C and heat the same in the winter?
The fan speed works fine, and the heat and A/C both work great. I’d really like to have defrost now that it’s winter. I don’t recall this being an issue in the summer, however my wife was driving it at that time.

Why does my air conditioner not turn on?
I’m just taking a stab in the dark, but there may be a spring, or something loose inside the knob. Its a mechanical controlled door system. Something wrong with the actuator and/or door (s). You’d have to follow them from underneath to see which ones aren’t working.
