Why is my 1998 SRX 700 so hard to start?

Hey all…I’ve got a 1998 SRX 700 that is pretty flipping hard to start when cold. I recently had the motor out due to a case-half leaking and when I pulled the motor I took out the carbs too.

How many pulls does it take to start a SRX sled?

Well after I winterize our fams 3 sleds, an SRX an SX and a Viper all 700 tripples, it usually takes me about 50 pulls each to get them started. Usually on my dad’s SRX we don’t even try untill we clean the carbs lol.

When to start a 2001 SRX snowmobile?

If the power valves were stuck open (which is harder to notice on the 98’s and 99’s) It would make it harder to start. My 2001 SRX starts any time of the year by the 5th pull, always full choke for about 5 seconds, then half choke to 4000 rpms for about 1 min, then choke off. Any other way, I will foul plugs like crazy NO MATTER WHAT PLUG!!!

How does a snowmobile start in the Cold?

But for the life of me if it’s cold out, you have to shoot a little bit of starter fluid into the air box to get it to fire up. When I put the motor back in I adjusted the choke cable to make sure I was getting full choke. Once the engine is warm as you can guess it starts right up very easily. How does your SRX start?
