Why does my Subaru Forester make a noise when I Turn Left?

OK, about 145,000 miles on the odometer and a noise not unlike the sound heard inside a twin engine prop airplane, but muted, with a pitch that increases with road speed sounds to be coming from the rear end. The sound does not change when turning the vehicle left or right and lately has subsided to a lesser degree.

I bought new tires for it in May 2012, and in September 2013 I started to notice a low humming/buzzing sound while driving. I looked online and came up with 2 options – either the wheel bearings or the tires.
