I solve the high rpm issue by stopping, turning the car off and waiting 15 seconds before restarting. My Altima did not come with a sealed battery as I’m sure most if not all Nissans are the same. When I checked the water level in the battery I found it very low. I refilled the battery to the proper level and have not had the problem since.
