Why does my M271 timing chain make noise?

Why does my M271 timing chain make noise?

If you are trying to determine if your timing chain is stretched in your C230 Kompressor (M271), the noises heard upon this start up are normal. The excess noise heard is the chain dragging on the guides until the oil pressure comes up to fully tighten the tensioner. This is a 2003 Mercedes-Benz C230 Kompressor.

Why does my c250 make a tapping noise?

I have a 2012 c250 (64k miles) that’s rattling on start up and having difficulties cranking. When cranked the engine makes a subtle tapping noise that sounds like it’s coming from the valve train. I pulled the valve cover and checked timing but according to diagrams everything looked OK (could be wrong. I took photos of intake and exhaust sides).

Are there timing issues in the c250 CGI?

We initially said that timing issues are more common in the later C200 and C250 CGi vehicles. Well, that was true back when we said it. Since then we have repaired roughly the same amount of Kompressor motors as we have CGi ones. In doing so, we have learnt the major differences in the faults between the two.

What causes timing chain rattle in Mercedes Benz?

Once the vehicle is started, the tensioner is fed an amount of oil pressure to help the plunger press against the chain to overcome the forces pressing back on it caused by the momentum of the rotating camshaft lobes whilst operating the valves.

Are there any problems with the Mercedes c250?

Granted, that was the only case reported of a fire, but given the other engine problems, it makes one a little leery of the 2012 C250. Other problems plaguing the 2012 C250 include peeling paint and rattling noises. Is the Mercedes-Benz C250 actually worth it?
