Why does my Jeep Patriot shift in auto mode?
I had this done to our early 2015 and it did result in smoother shifting but it was primarily for accidental drop into autostick mode. BTW you could see if this still happens when using autostick and shifting like it was a manual transmission. I’m gonna ask a Hyundai Dealer what their maintenance schedule is for that 6 speed auto.
What to do if your Jeep Patriot has a transmission problem?
I don’t know if it is the engine or the 6 speed automatic transmission. You can replace the spark plugs and try some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank and replace the PCV which could be clogged. There was a TSB about a software re-flash for the 6 speed automatic on 2014 and early 2015 models.
Can you tell if a Jeep Patriot is CVT or conventional?
I’d suggest asking a Jeep dealer. You might be able to tell when descending a hill with cruise control on. The cruise control will try to hold you back by downshifting. With a conventional automatic you should feel the downshifts; with a CVT probably not — the engine will just rev higher.
Why does my Jeep transmission stay in one gear?
The ‘autostick’ had no response either. I do not believe it was in limp mode, because only the [D] was lit up. But like I said, when I went to manually switch the gears with the ‘autostick’ – It would not move out of [D]. It would not manually shift to : [4], [3], [2] or [1]. I pulled over and turned the engine off for a minute.

Anyway, I have a 2014 Jeep patriot 4×4 automatic transmission. not the CVT version. Roughly 78,000 miles. I have been experiencing some issues with my jeep and was going to see what everyone else though what could be the issue. My jeep will stutter or knock so to speak several times in sequence when I attempt to accelerate.

Can you put CVT after CVT in Jeep Patriot?
Yes, there’s cases of dealers throwing CVT after CVT into a Patriot that won’t stop “transmission whining”…you yourself said dealers don’t know anything anymore….those cases were probably actually faulty AC units, which make the same whining noise when they go out…much cheaper than a transmission, as I understand it.
