Why does my Honda Aspencade run rough at idle?
If the engine still runs rough at idle but decently at higher rpm like after you adjusted the idle screw, it’s probably not just a bad fuel pump. It may be dirty pilot or slow (idle) jets in the carb, including the seats and passageways, which means other stuff inside there is dirty.
Where is the throttle stop on a Honda Aspencade?
As Eric says, to lower the idle rpms you back out the idle adjustment screw (throttle stop) from the right hand side. It’s right between the carb bodies. If you want to fix it up, it’s worth buying the right Clymer manual for it.
What happens to the engine rpm when idle?
At idle, on an intermittent basis, the rpm repeatedly sur… While idling, my rpm will surge from about 1100 to 1700 over the time frame of a second or two then return to 1100 over that same time frame, then repeat. If I put a load on the engine by turning on the airconditioning compressor, the surging will often stop.
Why does the engine surging stop at idle?
If I put a load on the engine by turning on the airconditioning compressor, the surging will often stop. This is an intermittent problem but seems to occur at least 50% of the time and seems to be worse after the engine has warmed up. Thank you for any input. My car has 225000 miles. Why does my car idle at a higher RPM than normal?

What happens when the Idle is high on a Harley Davidson?
Strange that there are no historical codes since you did say you saw the check engine light come on. (Could be you went through 50 key cycles with no engine issues) When you get off the interstate & the idle is high,,, if you were to power it off and restart the bike, does the idle calm down or does it resume the high idle.
