Why does my car shake between 40 and 50mph?
The most common reason for a car to shake is related to tires. If the tires are out of balance then the steering wheel can shake. This shaking starts at around 50-55 miles per hour (mph). When this happens you will experience a vibration through the steering wheel starting at 45 to 50 miles per hour.

Current issue is this: there is a vibration that occurs while driving that only happens at about 45 MPH then stops when you hit about 50. Very narrow MPH range where it occurs. Otherwise there are no vibrations to speak of. Tranny was rebuilt about 50 miles ago and clutch is new. Let me know your thoughts.

No problems with the drivetrain at any speed. I’ve been up to about 80 on freeways driving across state. Today I replaced the transmission mount. Went in without any problems. Took the truck to get dinner and at 45 it starts to vibrate, at 55 it gets worse.

Following weekend I changed the transmission mount (mentioned above), took the truck for a drive and had a nasty vibration between 45 and 55. I noticed it would go away if I coupled the front axle (Auto 4wd).
