Why does my car keep over revving when I accelerate?
Didn’t rev up to 5000rpm any more but did occasionally hang for a second or 2 at 3500 before dropping. So then changed the coolant temp sensor on right hand side of cylinder head ( think on your engine it maybe down where spark plugs are… They moved it I think. And that fixed the problem completely.
Why do the RPMs go up when I accelerate?
Also when I accelerate sometimes the rpms wont go up, they will actually slowly drift down, then when I release the accelerator pedal, they jump up quick then fall back down. I have already changed the ignition coils. The spark plugs have maybe 10000 miles on them, theyre ac delco iridium plugs, it has taylor spiro cables on it.
Why are my Revs not dropping with the throttle closed?
It sounds like a vacuum leak. (a lean condition). One could surmise that this same lean condition could be caused by some crud partially blocking your fuel passages, but then you’d still need extra air. (Maybe the throttle blades have always been a little bit too open to compensate for some issues with the carb, and it is now coming to light?
What to do when your revs are not dropping?
I adjusted the cables and magic perfect idle again. A tip on the weights determine if the mechanical advance is the problem is to warm bike up return throttle to off hit kill switch then wait till engine completely stops and without touching throttle crank bike.

What should I do if my gas pedal is over rev?
If I press the gas pedal really gradually and slowly then it’s fine, but the moment I put any normal amount of pressure it will over rev so I have to lift off and re apply pressure to the gas to drive properly. Couple things if it helps (1) Once i’m over 70 it doesn’t happen much.
