Why did the sub frame on my 2005 Hyundai Sonata rot out?
Hyundai Corporation refuses to repair the subframe rusted/with holes, despite numerous attempts to get some satisfaction. The sub frame on my 2005 Hyundai Sonata rotted out due to the climate and road salt in Massachusetts. My mechanic said that 2001 through 2004 Hyundai Sonatas were recalled for this issue but not 2005. Why not 2005?

Where is the hole in the Hyundai Sonata?
All Sonata owners should research it: Recently I was changing the oil in my daughter’s ’02 Sonata (108k miles and 2nd owner) and noticed a hole in the sub-frame inside and behind the right front wheel. The next day I contacted Superior Hyundai in Parkersburg, WV about the problem and they referred me on to a “national” phone number (800-633-5151).
How long does it take to replace Hyundai subframe?
The local Hyundai service center called me. They said that the subframe needed to be replaced and that Hyundai was covering the cost. They said the part was on order and they should be done by Friday (3 days). They didn’t offer a rental, so I mentioned that Hyundai had provided cars for others in this situation.
