Why did the belt come off my Honda Odyssey?
Well I underestimated the diabolical nature of an Ody far from home; it appears it was the bolt that holds the tensioner assembly that snapped and caused the belt to disappear.
Can a higher grade bolt be used on a Honda Odyssey?
Right up there with the aluminized silica cylinder sleeves on my 2010 MDX (hailed as a major technological breakthrough and then unceremoniously dropped two years later) and the infamous VCM. Higher grade bolt won’t help. Many people tried that before.
When to replace the upper strut mount on a Honda Odyssey?
This article provides you step-by-step instructions for replacing the upper strut mount and the stabilizer link for a Honda Odyssey. The repair was performed on a 2002 Odyssey. What’s the problem with the back row seat on a Honda Odyssey?
The larger seat (passenger side) is stuck. From the flat (cargo) position I can pull it up and it engages just fine (and disengages to fold flat again). Why is the tensioner on my Honda Odyssey bleeding?
The tensioner “bleeding” is new to me. The car lot from which I bought the Ody had the timing belt and water pump replaced just before I got it and assuming that the tensioner is removed as part of that process, his shop may not have known to “bleed” the tensioner three times before re-installing the belt- I wouldn’t have thought of that myself.
What should I do if my Honda Odyssey crankshaft is stuck?
Using a penetrating oil prior to the job (like ottoman says) is a good idea. 240 ft-lbs. of torque may not be enough. I once used a torque multiplier, and it took about 500 ft-lbs. to remove one really crazy-stubborn crank bolt from a really, really old Accord.
