Why did my exhaust brake stopped working?
Either the electronic boost sensor has failed or the vanes inside the turbo are sticking in the wrong position. The most likely cause of both the exhaust brake not working and lack of boost on the low-end stem from the variable-vane actuators inside the turbo being clogged with carbon deposits (soot).

Today, the CEL comes back on. I noticed the truck is wanting to downshift a lot, which is unusual. Turbo was putting out very little boost, a range of about 1-12 lbs. I was still able to maintain 70 mph without getting anything hot so I kept going but I also noticed the exhaust brake was not engaging.
