Why are the radiator fans not working on a Subaru Legacy?
I might be super late to the thread but I have a 2006 Subaru legacy 2.5 non turbo I’ve changed the thermostat the radiator the fans work to switch works all the relays work the one thing that really got me was bleeding the radiator. Once I did that and once I figured out that that was problem everything worked fine
What should I do if my Subaru Legacy overheats?
Check the fan relay,s and if not bad then check the fan motor,s. 16 people found this helpful. If it overheats at highway speeds, it’s not the fan (s). There is enough air-flow at..say..45 mph+ to make fans redundant. Next is thermostat. remove radiator cap cold, start and allow to warm up and see if coolant begins to flow
Why are the fans not working on my Subaru Outback?
Enter your ride HERE to be a part of this month’s Outback of the Month Challenge! I have a 2006 2.5L Outback. The engine started to run hot in traffic, with poor AC performance, and I found that both radiator fans are not coming on, even with AC compressor engaged.
How is the cooling speed of a Subaru engine controlled?
With applications made abroad — including parts made by the Japanese automaker — the speed of the cooling fan is controlled by a pulse–modulated fan motor. By way of contrast, in domestically made applications, fan speeds are activated by the powertrain control module. Either way, a fan can be diagnosed with the use of a code reader.

What causes a Subaru 2.5L engine to leak coolant?
Faulty chemistry and corrosion are a common problem on older 2.5L models, in which coolant tends to leak from the left–side cylinder. This problem has largely decreased since Subaru added ground straps, which protect the most vulnerable part of the head gasket.
Why are the fans on my Subaru Outback not turning on?
1. Checked relays f28 and f66 as well as both fuses in f27 in attached diagram. I used my multimeter and once I activated the relays resistance went down to zero. Resistance of fuses was zero as well. 2. After relays were pulled, jumped with a wire and both fans kicked on immediately. 3.
Where are the fuses on a Subaru Outback?
Same if both fuses #22 and 26 are blown; fuse 22 and 26 are in the cabin fuse box to the left of the steering column. Fuses should be checked electrically for continuity (with a resistance meter) or just replaced with the same type and amperage; visual examination is not always reliable.
Why is my AC not working on my Subaru Legacy?

How does the air conditioner work in a Subaru?
A compressor, Condenser, Evaporative (Evap) core, Expansion valve, receiver dryer, hoses and lines, thermo sensor and the controls. Inside the car there are a series of ducting or blend doors and their respective controls. I am not really going to give a class on how the ac system works I will save that for another article.
